LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT - ACROSS SCHOOL LEADS WORKSHOP

Published on
July 10, 2024

At ImpactEd, we offer specialised workshops designed to strengthen leadership within the Kāhui Ako framework. Our approach focuses on empowering Across School Leads to reflect on and enhance their leadership capabilities across multiple schools. We provide tools and strategies that enable ASLs to align their personal leadership goals with broader organisational objectives, creating a culture of shared responsibility and growth.

The workshop is run over 2 days and covers

  • Building capability as a leader
  • Developing strategies to deliver achievement challenges across multiple portfolios
  • Positive engagement with schools for project delivery
  • Accountable Goal Setting
  • Gathering and analysing valid and reliable data
  • Understanding impact measurement

Across School Leads participating in our workshops are encouraged to score themselves on a range of leadership competencies. These scores offer insights into their current strengths and development needs across key leadership dimensions.

Leaders assess their ability to set and communicate a clear vision for their team. They reflect on whether their goals are both achievable and aligned with the broader objectives of the Kāhui Ako. Regular reviews of these goals help ensure continued progress and alignment with changing needs.

Effective communication is essential for any leader. ASLs evaluate how well they communicate with team members, stakeholders, and peers. They also reflect on their ability to adapt their communication style to different audiences and provide constructive feedback that fosters growth.

Leaders examine their decision-making processes, from using data and feedback to considering long-term impacts. Empowering team members to make decisions within their roles is another critical aspect of fostering collective responsibility.

There is a focus on cultivating a positive team environment, leveraging individual strengths, and promoting collaboration. Providing opportunities for professional development is a key part of building strong teams.

Leaders reflect on how they handle conflict, emphasising the importance of constructive dialogue and finding lasting solutions. Ensuring conflicts are resolved promptly and effectively is crucial for maintaining team harmony.

In today’s dynamic educational landscape, adaptability is critical. Leaders evaluate how flexible they are when facing new challenges and how they encourage innovation within their teams.

Ethical considerations are at the heart of effective leadership. ASLs reflect on their integrity, transparency, and the ethical standards they set for themselves and others.

Based on their own reflection and open conversations with participants, participants create an action plan to enhance their leadership effectiveness. We guide them through reflection exercises to identify their strengths, opportunities for improvement, and concrete steps to support leadership growth across multiple schools.
