This project aimed to build collective teacher efficacy by developing resources to help teachers track student progress in maths. The project provided structured teaching sequences and workshops that focused on using formative assessments to monitor student learning and adjust instruction based on data. Teachers learned how to measure and communicate student progress effectively and how to analyse student misconceptions to refine teaching strategies.
Our emphasis on effective pedagogy has led to improved instructional practices. Through targeted PLD sessions, teachers explored various pedagogical frameworks that encourage active learning and foster critical thinking skills. By sharing evidence-based strategies, educators have become more adept at creating dynamic and inclusive learning environments.
A key resource developed for this initiative is teacher knowledge around how to measure progress of student learning. Recognising the importance of collective teacher efficacy, we organised sessions that promoted collaboration among educators. The resource created will be utilised in team discussions to analyse data collectively, fostering a supportive environment where teachers share successes and challenges, empowering them to work together towards common goals and enhancing overall student achievement in mathematics.
Impact:
· Teachers improved their understanding of how to structure lessons that build foundational Mathematics skills and track student progress using data.
· The project enhanced teachers’ ability to analyse student work and respond with targeted interventions to address identified learning gaps.
· Teachers were encouraged to adopt a growth mindset, using data to continuously improve their instruction and adapt to students’ evolving needs.
· The structured teaching sequence and team discussions fostered a collaborative environment where teachers worked together to solve challenges and share successes.
This project helped teachers with the collaborative analysis of student data so they could understand how to use this for the improvement of the quality of instruction. Teachers benefit from clear, structured resources that guide their instructional decisions and foster reflective practice.
"We had the pleasure of working with ImpactEd as part of our initiative to strengthen mathematical outcomes through collective teacher efficacy across our Kāhui Ako. ImpactEd demonstrated exceptional expertise in coaching Across School Leads to deliver effective, outcome-driven professional learning and development. Their ability to work alongside ASLs was instrumental in the success of the on-going initiative."
