SUPPORTING THE CURRICULUM REFRESH

Published on

ImpactEd has worked with over 80 schools to support the implementation of the revised Year 0-8 Maths curriculum. The project provided teachers with practical tools, such as curriculum-aligned yearly planners, unit planners, lesson exemplars, and assessment tools, helping them navigate the new curriculum effectively.

In addition to classroom-focused resources, we also developed tools to support school leadership in aligning their reporting and strategic planning with the new curriculum. This included Board of Trustees reporting templates, teacher overviews (which provide high-level summaries of units, key learning outcomes, assessment points, and instructional strategies), information summaries (to streamline this for schools), and strategic planning templates.

On top of resource curation, we facilitated PLD to help teachers and school leaders integrate these tools into their daily practice. We also established ongoing support structures, including coaching and peer-to-peer collaboration using our EPIC coaching model. This enabled teachers to feel confident and capable as they engage with the curriculum.

We continuously gather feedback from the schools we work with to evaluate the effectiveness of there sources and PLD provided.

Impact:

·       Teachers received curriculum-aligned resources that helped them structure lessons and build mathematical knowledge progressive across year levels.

·       Teachers were equipped with formative and summative assessment tools to track student progress and respond to learning needs in real-time.

·       Teachers were encouraged to use reflective practices and formative assessments to continually refine their instructional strategies and adapt to the new curriculum’s demands.

·       ImpactEd facilitated workshops and ongoing support structures such as coaching and peer-to-peer collaboration, creating a strong collegial environment that supported the curriculum's long-term implementation.

Targeted curriculum support through structured resources and practical tools has made the curriculum more accessible and manageable for teachers. Ongoing progressional support and peer collaboration are essential for the successful implementation of a new curriculum.
